Cultural heritage encompasses all tangible and intangible values related to our identity, culture, and history.
Cultural heritage includes not only historical cities and textures, cultural landscapes, monumental structures, archaeological sites, but also living intangible values such as language, traditions, dance, music, and rituals. In conventions prepared by international organizations such as UNESCO, ICOMOS, and similar institutions, as well as in international legal texts, the concept of cultural heritage is categorized as tangible cultural heritage, intangible cultural heritage, underwater cultural heritage, and natural heritage.
Tangible cultural heritage is divided into movable and immovable cultural heritage. Movable cultural heritage includes paintings, sculptures, coins, manuscripts, archaeological artifacts; immovable cultural heritage includes monuments, archaeological sites, historic urban fabrics, and building complexes; underwater cultural heritage consists of shipwrecks, underwater remains, and submerged cities; intangible cultural heritage covers oral traditions, performing arts, rituals; natural heritage includes natural sites with cultural dimensions, cultural landscapes, and physical, biological, and geological formations.
The protection of cultural heritage assets is defined in Article 3 of Law No. 2863 on the Conservation of Cultural and Natural Assets as follows: “Protection and conservation” includes preservation, maintenance, repair, restoration, and change of function for immovable cultural and natural assets; and preservation, maintenance, repair, and restoration for movable cultural assets.
In this context, as YONCALI TERMAL HOTEL & SPA, our Policy on the Protection and Presentation of Cultural Heritage Assets is as follows:
We identify and control the possible direct and indirect impacts of our activities, visitors, and supply chain operations on cultural heritage assets.
We publish brochures, booklets, and videos promoting our cultural heritage assets as part of our activities.
We participate in efforts focused on the protection of cultural heritage assets together with NGOs and local administrations.
To raise awareness about the protection and presentation of cultural heritage assets, we organize internal training and communication activities and include this topic within our sustainability training programs.
We take actions to ensure the sharing of inventories related to the cultural heritage of the region.
